ART COLOGNE 2025
5 November - 8 November
Gallery Delaive is pleased to participate in the 58th edition of Art Cologne, opening
November 6, 2025, presenting paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by international artists.
It has been 13 years since Gallery Delaive last participated in Art Cologne. At that time, the gallery presented works by Ayako Rokkaku, who is now internationally recognized. Much has changed since then.
This year, Gallery Delaive will present a curated selection of works by Karel Appel, Sam Francis, Corneille, Niki de Saint Phalle, Constant, Takashi Murakami, and Tom Wesselmann.
Highlights include works by Sam Francis created between 1988 and 1990, when he established his studio in a secluded boathouse at Point Reyes, Inverness, California. This period is now known as the Boathouse Years. While working in the tranquil boathouse above the water, Francis developed a more introspective and contemplative style. Immersed in nature and away from city life, he produced a series of striking works.
Francis initially used the Boathouse studio from 1988 to 1990 to fulfill a commission from the French government, originally intended as a ceiling painting for the Louvre. As the commission evolved, he created many additional works beyond the one destined for France.
